Ceylon Teachers Union condemns Tamil teacher killing in Moothoor

[TamilNet, Friday, 25 November 2011, 18:57 GMT]
The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) Friday demanded that culprits behind the brutal murder of a young Tamil teacher Miss Kurukulasingham Srivathani should be arrested without delay and be brought before court of law and to ensure the security of the teaching community.

The Trincomalee district branch of the CTU has issued a press release on behalf of its parent union Friday that the security of teachers who serve in remote schools far away from their own villages are threatened with the cruel killing of Srivathani.

This would hamper the education of rural students.

The authorities concerned should take this into serious consideration and should ensure the security of teachers serving in rural areas far away from the home towns.
